It wasn't intended to be a "little huts in the guild hall" idea at all... that's the exact thing I'm trying to avoid by having houses be very much like GHs, only smaller and with different features. Any home storage, for example, should only be accessible in the house, not via the Xunlai. It would be a great means to "keep" pets while you capture more... it could even open the doors for a Dr. Doolittle type of title. You could potentially "leave" a pet in the house while you go out and capture a new one, then in the house you could select a pet to travel with (With ranger primary or secondary of course, and Charm Animal equipped). Characters could have armor and weapons lockers which will only store armor or weapons customized to that character (this would keep the appeal away from the mega-farmers to have houses as well). You'd access it via the Battle Isles much like a guild hall.
The fact that the moderators have let this thread continue implies that it's a unique enough twist on the old "house" concept to be at least worthy of discussion, many thanks to the moderators.

*goes back and scratches his signature out.
It's overdone and would require way too much work. Neat as it may be, not worth the hassle, or very fitting.
Just add a tab or two in the storage window.
I will not start a frivilous thread, but it's hard not to expound on an idea that's interesting, even if it's not needed.

This has been said I believe but if I had my way it would go like this:
A lot like pressing the G button to view your guild, you could press a button (aNet would have to assign one of course- lets just say its the 'Y' button for now.) Anyway, by pressing the Y button you could visit your home which would be very customizable with LOTS of options for design and location. Of course it will include stuff like 'closets' which have lots of extra storage space, and sure, an area where minis/pets could walk around in. You would be able to buy a house for a fee in one of the big cities, and if the cost is too much for you, you can team up with a friend to split the cost and you would each half-own the house. You could have people over at any time when they're in your party by just mapping to your house (this isn't a perfect idea- what if people spammed the idea? Something like this anyway.) You could have a maximum of..5 people in your house at one time. People that are in your friend list can visit your house at any time, and if you're not logged on they'll see a closed door and they can leave messages, and when you log back on you will recieve them. Basically, a sort-of 'clubhouse' type place to hang out with friends, but with the added bonus of extra storage. And no, this would be in the next installment of GW, not a buyable thing online.
Basically, i'm just shooting off some ROUGH ideas that I would love to see implamented. If your ideas are anything near mine, then:

Heh, imagine the mayhem it would cause in Guild Wars if people found ways to exploit a house system. People would be taking everything left and right and it would be gg for Arenanet. Therefore I will always trust Xunlai to do my bidding.

But MSecorsky, I don't mean any disrespect. Like Aeon_Xin said, sure it would be nice see the ToA farmers show off their large two-story house, well bred llamas, a Ferrari, and female Henchmen that look like models from a SI calendar; but I am still against it.

You know what could be a fun idea... if the house was the result of a quest, something you had to solo (maybe?) and would result in you finding a little place of your own.
Or, it could be said that everyone has a home that they came from in the first place, so it's accessible to all.
Or... that could be the quest... "Going Home".

I think it could be a cool idea, but I'm wondering if it's too much.
Extra storage space has a much simpler solution. However, there is a part of me that thinks it'd be very cool, ie my mesmer could spend the rest of her life attentind balls in Vabbi, my ranger would love to roam the Shiverpeaks, my necro, like Eve, would be at home in the Echovald Forest, etc. That's beginning to get a little excessive, not to mention expensive, and there's still 4 more active characters and 3 mules that I might one day play if I can clear the items off of them.
If it was something simple that could be done, such as the way Guild Halls are currently done with the Sigils, and then you could go and tour the options then select the setting that you like. If it is like sigils they might be market dependant though and then might be 20k each...and that'd hurt the bank account unless they're intentionally set as a lower price then that.

/signed,
unless it would cost like 40k to build, +whatever other mess.
Then I won't ever bother. not worth it, I could use 40k for weapons and armor.

Because then your not trying to build 10000 individual homes and farms. Your only building up one per guild. It wouldnt effect bandwidth as badly, because your not displaying multiple houses in one location.
Then its up to your guild to watch after it.

In addition to having housing options in Guild Halls to make Guild Halls more interesting (guest invites and the like would be more fun, too, because people could check out each others' "Housing" in their Guild Halls), I think it would be really great to add the ability to LINK Alliance Guild Halls in order to create a small town/community.
It's only a rough idea, but I think that would make having an Alliance Town/Guild Hall so much more significant and more fun to hang out in and it would largely increase the social aspect of the game.
note: (this would especially work well with the idea of mini-games in Guild Halls also).

I don't recall reading anything about that other than personalized Hall of Monuments.

Hell yeah,to make a city (in sky perhaps,to be acessable for all ) where are ONLY HOMES...and each district would have different homes (not languages) for different players...man,that would be fantastic to walk a street and see people walking in their home and doing some stuff...

Holy crap are you kidding me?
If you have all 3 games and payd 50g, you have 80 storage slots + the material storage.
If that aint enough, go shoot yourself.
